Wow we now have bricks!

Again we visited at the weekend and found that the brick layer had been and had started laying the bricks around the bottom half of the framing...you can now slowly start to see the house coming together...

North elevation....laundry, kitchen and lounge walls....

Inside the lounge, dining, and kitchen areas looking outside to the alfresco...

View from alfresco, back into the lounge area...

South elevation...media room, en suite and bedroom walls...

Another view of....laundry door, pantry window, frosted kitchen windows and small box lounge windows...

The scaffolding will be going up today, so the cladding can then be installed then the roof can be put on....then we have the beer shout!!

Plumbing!

Since our last visit and the excitement of viewing the framing our next return to the site was to find that the plumber had visited and installed the water and gas piping throughout the framing.

Here's a collage of some of the plumbing....

The colour coding for each of the pipes is as follows:

  • Yellow = gas
  • Green = water tank; and
  • Black pipes are for hot & cold

Framed!

We turned up to check out progress on Saturday and were totally stunned that the majority of the framing was up!! We definitely weren't expecting the second story to be up. Its taken the builders only four days to do this. Amazing!!! Majority of the windows were in too.

The builders were still there working when we arrived, and they were kind enough to let us in and have a look around. It was great to actually stand in the rooms and get a real feel of how its going to look.

This is the front view of the house...

This is the North elevation....
Then we have the South elevation...(with a builder on the roof!) And, the rear of the house...
It was a good job that we turned up and checked out progress, as we spotted that the main window facing out on to the swimming pool, had been positioned too low!!! - it needs to be higher to allow for a window seat, down the track.
I suppose no build ever goes to plan - hopefully we got to this in time!

We have a slab (foundation) for our home!

We visited our lot on Sunday to find that the slab was complete!! We snuck through the fence to take a walk on it!! We are standing on the kitchen bench, looking out to the alfresco.

And as promised the framing was also delivered...

to be constructed this week...Hopefully the neighbours don't mind us using their site to offload.

Yeah!! Pods down and slab being poured!!

Our recent visit was quite a surprise...we arrived on Sunday afternoon, 31 May 09, to find that the waffle pods had been laid with the steel reinforcing positioned on top, and the plumbing pipes were popping up out of the ground - we have progress!!

As you can see, the Hunter has had quite a bit of rain of late...its a little muddy underfoot!

The trenches have been dug out, ready for the drains. It looks like a moat at present!

Monday 1 June 2009, 8.00am meeting with the site construction manager, Gary...

View of all the action...The boys working hard...

One of the many concrete trucks.... they reckon it was going to take about 10 concreting trucks to lay the slab!!

Leveling out the garage floor...

The garage floor completed!!

And another truck arrives - watch our car!

Gary advised us that the drains will be laid this week and the framing will be delivered on Friday.

Once the framing is up, the bricklayer then lays the bricks around the bottom part of the house. Then the scaffolding is erected part way up and they clad around the top part, another level of scaffolding is added, then the roof goes on, and so on.

We have also solved the blade wall issue...after going backwards and forwards with emails, with our options, the building company have come back with an option that we both agree upon. They are going to pitch the garage roof slightly and add a supporting beam from the front entrance of the garage to the back wall. Everyone is happy!!

Until the next update.
