Our new kitchen
Yeah we have finally had our kitchen installed....it took three days to install. Just waiting for the plumber now to turn up and connect the taps. The electrician also has to come and install a couple of powerpoints - microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher. The cabinet maker also needs to come back and install one more draw. So were nearly finally finished.

Good and bad news time...
The bad news!!... we still don't have a kitchen, but the good news....we got our money back from the credit card company...YEAH!!!! So we can now re-commission another kitchen company, that won't go under!! Fingers & toes crossed!
More good news, our blinds and shutters have all now been installed and they look fabulous, were extremely happy with them.
More good and bad news...our pool fencing was installed, the glass looks a picture, the fencing looks good too, however they installed the wrong colour....its supposed to be black!! They somehow got their wires or should I say fencing crossed with the colour of the side gates, which are correct, as we wanted them to blend into the house colour, eventually, when we get around to painting the wall. So the question is....to keep the fence as it is and live with it, (its actually not a bad colour - it could have been white) or to get them to change it to the black we initially wanted?
The pool is going to be rendered this week, then we have to wait a couple of weeks till they put the top coat on, then they can fill it.
The landscaper is going to start soon too, though I am now re-considering our initial choice of plants!! A woman's prerogative to change her mind I think!
Another good note, we discovered another winery today, we went for a walk outside of the Vintage around the back lane and popped in, as you do in the Hunter Valley, to a winery - Calais Estate Wines...the reds were delicious, particularly the 2005 Chambourcin, 2007 Petit Verdot and the 2004 Shiraz.....yum!

Still no kitchen!
Our kitchen was supposed to be installed this week, but we were advised a few weeks ago that our kitchen company was having financial difficulties and was bought out!!! So we have no kitchen!!! And don't know when we will have one installed at this stage!! Its all very complicated so won't bore you with the details!!
On a positive note, our roller blinds were installed and I LOVE them!! Also the outside is progressing nicely. The concrete has been poured in the utility area, around the pool and paving from the bedroom to the alfresco....the brick layer is in next to do the retaining wall and the wall from the side of the house. Then the paving will be down after Easter, followed by the fencing then the pool can be filled.
Until the next update...hopefully with good news re the kitchen.

Yeah we have been in now for 10 weeks!
So who won the bet? Well we moved in on Christmas Eve! All our furniture was delivered from the lock-up, along with all our new appliances.
We set the bed up first, so we had something to collapse into :-) Then I had to find my Christmas tree and put that up too!!
Would like to get a big rug to go underneath the dining table at some stage. Also need a big mirror perhaps for the wall between the windows (all in good time!)
Waking up on Christmas morning was something really special! Thanks Santa!
Christmas Day, as you can imagine was not a traditional day for us this year! We spent majority of the day unpacking boxes, each box was like a Christmas present!!
Dave, first found the gas bbq and set that up, so we could throw a few prawns on it for a late lunch - they were totally delish!
Since Christmas Day, we find ourselves still unpacking a box or two and re-arranging furniture!
Even though the house was not totally complete inside, in saying that, everything was complete, apart from the kitchen and pantry areas. We had our stove connected and a temporary island bench, but no cupboards or shelving.
We did a trip to Bunnings to buy some temporary shelving for our food, pots and pans, kettle and toaster etc. I think they look great, the rustic look! Once we have finished with them in the kitchen, they will be utilised in the garage for Dave's tools and boys stuff! What about that then for recycling!
We still have a few things that need fixing, i.e, one zone of the air conditioning system doesn't work, we have birds nesting in the bathroom ducting off bedroom 1 en suite (the bloody electricians forgot to put a vent on the outside of the house - go figure!) And we have a few electrical incidentals that need fixing up.
The other thing we had to get done since being in the house is the tiling of the kitchen and pantry floor. Builders in Australia don't tile the floor then install the kitchen they tile around things!!! We wanted our kitchen to be placed on top of the tiles, so we waited to get this done. So we had to shift the temporary island bench into the garage - outdoor table now our temporary kitchen bench! And as you can see the cooker (not connected) is temporarily located in the living area!!! Go figure!
this has now become Dave's workbench in the garage (he is the envy of the boys in the neighbourhood! Oh and still our kitchen bench, as we are doing our dishes and prepping here too...its a bit of mission!
The garden, pool, fencing and paving still need to be complete. This was our pool quarter full of rainwater, tadpoles and frogs!
Now its been drained...
The plumbing, coping, waterline tiles and the feature wall waterfall spouts are all done - its starting to look more like a pool now, don't you think.
The electrician has put all the conduit in the garden for the lighting. The paving guy should hopefully be working his magic next week, starting the concreting, paving and letterbox!! Once he has done that then the fencing guy can install the pool fencing, then the pool guys can return to complete the pool, just in time for Winter!! Then to top it all off, the landscaper can work his magic.
Also inside, we should have all the window shutters and blinds installed by Easter, just in time for our friends from Melbourne to visit for Easter weekend:-)

The Countdown...
After our visit today, all that was different was the external paintwork, now completed!! Apart from some minor touch ups here and there!
I do believe we are now on the countdown to take over!!! Three weeks to Christmas....bets are on that we are in for Christmas Eve!!! What a Christmas present that would be eh!!

We have already been shopping for beds and looking around for lounge suits and outdoor dining table and chairs. The bed shopping to date has been successful, but we are finding it hard to seek out the right lounge and outdoor furniture at this stage... We or I must be too fussy!!!

Driveway now done!
The driveway has now been done and the water tank has been installed, along with some of the outdoor lighting. We also now have a bath and glass paneling in the bathrooms. So were getting closer and closer!!! Majority of the painting outside is also complete, just the posts to do on the upstairs - they are not staying blue!! The project manager has said we should be in before Christmas:-)) that will be the best Christmas present ever to the both of us!!! Just in time for the Christmas sales too, as we need to buy beds, all new bed linen, a lounge suit and an outdoor furniture set......so not too much really!!!!! Plus all new kitchen wear!!! Were off to Peter's of Kensington to stock up!!!

All the inspections are taking place now, so once they are done, we should be getting our keys!! Then we have to tackle the landscaping and the pool. I imagine this will be done/complete early in the New Year. At least we will be able to sleep in the house:-)
